Award Winning Hospital Executive Featured at PR University October 5

FORT MYERS, Fla. (Sept. 20, 2017) – The Southwest Florida Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA) will hold its annual professional development seminar, PR University, on Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017 at Florida SouthWestern State College in Fort Myers from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. This year’s PR University, “PR is Universal,” will focus on public relations as a universally smart investment in every industry. One of the featured speakers is Kena Lewis, APR, director of media relations and public affairs for Orlando Health, who will present “Crisis Communications and Media Relations.” Lewis will recount her experiences as the lead spokeswoman for Orlando Health in the wake of the Pulse Nightclub tragedy. PR University is an award-winning professional development seminar that will bring together some of the best local and national public relations professionals to examine how PR skills help stakeholders, clients and companies navigate their universes. Additional topics and speakers for the event include: •“How to Create an Advocacy Program” with Nanette Schimpf, APR, CPRC, VP and advocacy lead for Moore Communications Group in Tallahassee. Schimpf will teach attendees how to create awareness of giving back within your organization.

•“From Launch to Mars” with Kennedy Space Center Visitors Complex digital marketing manager, Christine Selby Regan. She will give an informative presentation on how Kennedy Space Center planned and implemented its Summer of Mars multi-platform communications and education campaign.

•“How to Create a Media Relations Toolkit” with Heather Champine, Media Relations Partner and VP of media production for Media Relations, Inc.

•“Reputation Recovery” with former U.S. Congressman, Trey Radel. Radel will speak on how to prepare and execute a reputation recovery plan after a scandal, and how to avoid one in the first place.

The seminar will begin at 8 a.m. with registration check-in, networking and a continental breakfast followed by each speaker’s 45-minute presentation beginning at 9a.m. Lunch and refreshments will also be served.
